Para além do retrato clássico, a linguagem visual da artista inspira-se em desenhos animados, cultura pop, memórias pessoais, imaginação e fotografias de infância. Nesse sentido, a ausência do Hula Hoop, um objeto de um passado distante, surge como metáfora de uma ludicidade esquecida. A artista convoca-nos para a leveza essencial do viver, onde a comédia e a melancolia coexistem.

The opening of the intervention 'Where Is My Hula Hoop?', by the artist Monika Pietryga, will be on 23/04 6pm, at KUBIKULO.

Beyond classical portraiture, the artist’s visual language draws from cartoons, pop culture, personal memories, imagination, and photographs from childhood. In that spirit, the absence of the Hula Hoop, an object from a distant past, stands as a metaphor for forgotten playfulness. The artist calls us to the essential lightness of living, where comedy and melancholy coexist.
