The Rising Star transporta-nos para um tempo em que uma estrela, ao nascer a Este, podia orientar a leitura da paisagem e dos seus ciclos. O título remete para Aldebarã, estrela vermelha cuja aparição no horizonte da Serra da Estrela, por volta de 4000 a.C., foi associada pelo arqueoastrónomo Fábio Silva à orientação dos monumentos megalíticos da região de Carregal do Sal. Esta relação entre dólmen, montanha e céu convocava uma forma antiga de inscrição cosmológica da paisagem, ligada ao movimento dos rebanhos e à ocupação temporária das pastagens de altitude.

Hoje, alguns pastores continuam a atravessar a Serra da Estrela com os seus rebanhos, mantendo uma relação física e quotidiana com a montanha. A exposição parte desta continuidade sensível entre antigas formas de orientação pelo céu e aquilo que, dessa relação primordial com a paisagem, ainda subsiste na experiência contemporânea da montanha.

The Rising Star transports us to a time when a star, rising in the East, could orient the reading of the landscape and its cycles. The title refers to Aldebaran, the red star whose appearance on the horizon of Serra da Estrela, around 4000 BCE, was associated by archaeoastronomer Fábio Silva with the orientation of the megalithic monuments in the Carregal do Sal region. This relationship between dolmen, mountain and sky summoned an ancient cosmological inscription of the landscape, connected to the movement of herds and the temporary occupation of high-altitude pastures.

Today, some shepherds continue to cross Serra da Estrela with their flocks, maintaining a physical and everyday relationship with the mountain. The exhibition emerges from this sensitive continuity between ancient forms of orientation through the sky and what, from that primordial relationship with the landscape, still subsists in the contemporary experience of the mountain.
