The involvement of the European Union and the WEU in peacekeeping missions outside Europe, por John Roper

Cold War ending has brought out the desire to find multilateral solutions to security problems and international relations. This paper addresses the involvement of the EU and the Western European Union in peacekeeping operations in a context where the role of regional organisations is yet to be seen. It discusses the connection of relations between regional organisations and the UN; contribution to the budget of peacekeeping; practical examples such as Yugoslavia and, finally, A cost-benefit analysis of regional organisations in peacekeeping and peace enforcement, not forgetting military effectiveness.
