Assessments of the practical results of the Lisbon Strategy have been well documented, but there are three aspects that are common to both initial documents and more recent developments: mutually reinforcing effect of a number of policy areas; adapting Europe to an international dimension and how the Strategy can be integrated into the Union’s external action. This paper is an attempt to analyse the missing link between a between the Lisbon Strategy and the EU’s external action: in which policies this is visible and to what extent the Lisbon Strategy priorities have been transferred to EU external action
